Anonymous: I think you are such a beautiful young woman who seems to have everything going in the right direction and I admire you modesty in how you present yourself. How do you care for your hair, give a run down of a routine that a person can follow to get that natural curly look and the products you use.
Thank for the compliment :)
My routine is quite simple.
I basically just cowash (using conditioner only to wash my hair) every other day or every three days, apply a natural oil (in most cases I use Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil) and my leave-in conditioner (African Pride Shea Butter Miracle leave-in conditioner is what I’m trying out right now) and then style my hair in a wet bun. Once a week or once every two weeks I clarify my hair with a vinegar rinse ( one part vinegar to 3 parts water) and apply to my scalp, massage in and let it sit for 10 mins then rinse and cowash.
If I am going for a more defined curly look I skip the leave-in and just apply some EcoStyler gel to my wet hair in small sections in a smoothing motion to define my curls then I air dry my hair.
If I am going for a looser curly look, I do a “flat-twist out” (search it on YouTube if you don’t know what it is). I use Raw African Shea Butter when I do mine.
And if I am planning to straighten, I clarify my hair with a vinegar rinse, deep condition, rinse, leave-in and air dry. Then straighten my hair in very small pieces by detangling, and applying Shea butter to the piece and then flat iron it.
Feel free to ask if you need me to explain anything else :)!
